Senior PHP Developer
As a back-end PHP Developer you will work in a small remote team with members located in Nigeria, France and The Netherlands. We favor async communications and try to keep the number of meetings to the minimum, so you can focus on your work with the least amount of distractions.
You will be writing and improving existing code, mentor other developers, set and improve standards, and driving innovation to take the VC4A platform to the next level. You will apply creative problem solving skills to develop and maintain a high-volume social platform servicing an active and growing community.
The developer reports directly to our technical director, but is expected to work independently with high level of autonomy. You are a key player in advancing the VC4A platform and offers plenty of opportunities for growth and skills advancement.
About the stack:
- GraphQL API;
- CI via Jenkins & GitHub Enterprise;
- WordPress MultiSite, WP-CLI;
- HA Stack using Memcached, AWS, CloudFlare;
- Development via Docker/Vagrant, Sys/DevOps with Ansible & Git.
About you:
- Excellent working knowledge of PHP;
- Experienced in writing clean and well-structured code;
- Experience with GraphQL is a plus;
- Experience with WordPress (MultiSite) is a plus;
- Experience with ORM, Composer, Memcached, Jenkins, Ansible, Docker/Vagrant is a plus;
- Experience with a modern JS framework like VueJS is a plus;
- Highly proficient/excellent knowledge of Git and related managed code workflows;
- Good creative problem-solving skills;
- Good communication skills (speaking, writing and code documentation);
- Living in a time zone that is at most 2 hours off CET time.
Additional responsibilities:
- Pro-actively spot and fix issues;
- Review pull requests and give feedback;
- Help (re)define coding best-practises and implement them;
- Improving existing code;
- Ability to test code and report bugs, log support issues and/or possible improvements;
- Support fellow VC4A team members as needed.
